Fire flies glow and light up due to bioluminescent a production of light from a biochemical reaction.Although many marine animals and even some plants have bioluminescent abilities only a relative few terrestrial animals have the ability to emit light in this way. Most of these animals are arthropods like the firefly.Also known as lightning bugs or glowworms,these bioluminescent animals have fascinated humans since the beginning of time .it is only relatively recently that we have learn why theses animals have the ability to glow.
